Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"This was the student's first SAT lesson after the May exam. She did above par on the math (670). After that, we did a full review of all topics covered on the grammar section. She took notes, and completed a checklist of all the potential grammar errors on an SAT. I'm hoping that this highly systematic approach will help, and we are at a phase where trying different approaches makes sense. I gave her homework in all sections, and we will continue our next lesson with a review of the grammar checklist and a detailed review of reading question types."
"We worked today on Riemann sums and some integral basics. The student seems to have a good grasp of these concepts. I'm going to do everything in my power to make sure the student does as well as he can the rest of this semester. Part of that is going to be helping build his confidence for tests. I'm going to really push him to keep me updated on his quiz and test schedule and his grades as he gets them. I'm hoping he'll have a copy of his test so I can get an idea of what kinds of questions his teacher is asking and what mistakes he's making."
"This was my last session with the student. We did an essay, a math section, and an outline for a 2nd essay."
"-Reviewed vocab. -Underline important info in math problems and what questions are asking her to find (math and reading). -Good job annotating passages."
"In the past two sessions, the student and I worked on a total semester view for her geometry final tomorrow. We covered all topics--from lines and planes, special triangles, areas and volumes, to circle properties--in order to ensure she had everything prepared. After today's session she said she felt pretty confident going into this final and I look forward to hearing how it goes!"
"Today, the student and I reviewed her homework for an upcoming class. She was able to accomplish her work successfully, getting her a bit ahead in her economics class."
