Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"He and I reviewed his Chapter 1 test, which he struggled with. He now has a much stronger grasp of the material (transforming and translating equations, systems of equations) and will retake the test this week or next week. We also reviewed a little for his upcoming PSAT."
"He and I reviewed long and synthetic division of polynomials. As he is adept at dealing with polynomials, this material came naturally to him, and I didn't have to give much instruction working on his review material."
"He and I reviewed some more problems with manipulating algebraic expressions, including factoring and multiplying quadratic equations, and simplifying fractions with variables in the top and bottom. We also covered some problems involving sequences, both how to identify terms in a sequence, and how to write the formula for a sequence given the terms."
"He and I went over more homework problems concerning systems of equations and the application of the quadratic formula. We will NOT have a session on Thursday, as he anticipates having no homework."
"He and I went over some of the Algebra II problems in preparation for his exam today. We went over word problems that involved fractions and decimals, simplifying equations involving 2 variables, and solving for variables involving fractions. He had a good attitude about learning the material and seemed to put forth the effort needed to learn the material."
"He and I worked on Algebra 2 for this session. We completed a review sheet for Chapter 8 on finding domain and excluded values of the domain, factoring, simplifying, and adding/subtracting/multiplying/dividing polynomials. We also began working on Chapter 9 on complex numbers, and we learned about simplifying negative square roots using the imaginary number i, simplifying square roots by factoring out a perfect square, solving equations using complex numbers, and adding/subtracting/multiplying complex numbers."
