Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We covered high school algebra, largely review of various concepts to a moderate degree of depth. The student didn't have any unusual problems, just small misunderstandings - multiplying fractions, factoring and the like. We worked on them and he demonstrated understanding and skill with them. He probably still needs a good bit of practice and confidence, but he's on his way to doing well."
"We covered homework from four sections. The material included transforming equations into point slope and slope intercept form. We also worked on identifying characteristics of linear equations including y intercept and x intercept. We also worked on graphing of linear equations."
"We covered how to solve function notation equations with her. She said that she had previously learned the material, and seemed very confident with the material. I showed her how to recognize if graphs were valid functions or not so that she has a leg up for when she learns that material in the future. She also mentioned that she did well on her test from last week! With the other student, we worked on solving equations with fractions in them. He seemed to understand the concept, but it did take him some time to figure out each individual step. It seemed as though the more practice he had the faster he got at solving the problems."
"We covered how to solve inequalities and equations. It went well, but I noticed she had a lot of trouble with the basics of how to solve for variables. I provided steps and homework of things to memorize and improve upon, and I feel she got better at it! It went well."
"We covered inequalities and topics that involve inequalities. We reviewed a quiz that the student had taken and reviewed the problems that he had gotten wrong. He seems to understand the concepts now. I will send a note sheet of what we covered, because I forgot to take screenshots of the session today. It went well!"
"We covered inequalities today. Student struggled with difference between real number and no solution problems. Student was calm and seemed to be confident in her work, even when she was unsure of the answer. No study skills were discussed during the session - she was confident in her study skills. We also reviewed her notes taken in class."
