Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Continued on Chapter 2 of the Japanese text, in addition to talking about vacationing in Japan during holiday seasons."
"We covered a lot today! We reviewed greetings, numbers, letters, spelling our first names in Spanish, and asking about favorites/preferences. We played Simon Says to learn some body parts that we will review. Both students have an amazing amount of energy and are very eager learners. Through questions, I work with them to try to make them more comfortable using the language in any capacity. I used a lot of visual cues that they seemed to follow well!"
"The student did super well today. We went over the present and present progressive tenses, and we thoroughly went over irregular verb use in conversational English. It was very productive, and I believe she has really mastered the different uses for the tenses."
"The student had spent some time traveling due to work engagements, so I began with a review. First, I practiced some dictation exercises with him, and then helped him write some short essays in various tenses, as well as a short essay using reflexives. Lastly, they reviewed the construction of the imparfait and the passe compose. They also contrasted situations in which both would be used."
"The student did a great job. He had completed his homework and improved his score from an 1190 to 1320. He had struggled with trigonometry, and ironically, the reading section. As a result, he did better on the math section (a 690!) than he had done on the reading. We spent the day working on the law of sines and trig functions. We also discussed the Pythagorean theorem. He grasped all the concepts and seemed super confident."
"We covered verb conjugations (both regular and irregular), as well as past tense conjugations. We also went over the definite articles and pronouns. I had the student conjugate some verbs and write out two sentences in English for what I wrote in German to see his skill level. We talked about High German. I made it clear that I was going to teach him only High German, which is taught to everyone in Germany and around the world. He was very apt to learn everything. I did send him home with a few things to review. This was the first session with him, and we will see how things progress from here on out."
