Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We reviewed trigonometric functions, identities and how to graph them. We applied these concepts in detail to practice worksheets from class."
"We covered the introduction to radians and how to apply them. The student and I discussed fractions and by the end of the session she had a stronger grasp on the material."
"Today the student and I worked on exercises covering graphs in trigonometry, more specifically sine and cosine. Since she did not have any homework to review, we just picked a couple of exercises from the textbook and practiced those. I believe this will put her ahead in the next set of homework. She shared with me that while the first sections involving trigonometry were fine, she had difficulty when the graphing started, but after practicing today, I believe things were clearer in her mind. There are a lot of tricky things going on with those graphs so paying attention to the details is very important. As usual I think she did fine, and she was focused and continues to work hard."
"In this session we spent the first part of the session getting homework assignments in order and the second part reviewing. The student did well on the homework. There were some problems he left blank that we did together. Once I explained to him the correct methods, he seemed to be understanding. He did well on the review problems."
"The student first did his homework, which was mainly algebraic expressions and equations. He did fine on those questions. For the rest of the session, he and I worked on the released state assessment test for mathematics. Out of 50 questions, we did 33 and he had problems on just a few topics. He was unsure how to do probability questions, though he understood that it meant higher and lower chances to obtain an outcome. He did not understand how to find the probability of an outcome given a set of circumstances. We will continue to work on that."
"In this session we started working on arc lengths and sectors. The student actually gets it really well and was able to complete her homework without correction from my end. We also reviewed an old quiz. She then retook it and improved her score by 7 points."
