"Went over basic testing strategy and each of their score goals. Starting with math portion, went over some of the fundamental mathematical concepts that are tested. I also did a lot of practice problems with them to give them a feel for the type of math questions on the test. Assigned sections 1 & 2 of PT #1 in the test prep book."
"The student and I spent the first hour reviewing the the English and Math sections of the admissions test, then we went into the Science section. He had remembered a lot of the Math and English concepts which was great! I suggested taking full practice tests to apply the concepts in a timed test environment. After going through test questions in these two sections, we moved on to the Science section. We encountered slightly more difficulties in this section. He was doing great on all the Biology questions, but the Physics questions seemed to giving him the most trouble. We worked through a bunch of the problems, and I plan next time to work with him more on some of these issues. That being said, I think he had a great start to the Science section. I told him to take at least one full, timed practice test from the test prep book by our session this Sunday."
"We did three word problems, followed by a data interpretation problem, two research summary problems, and a conflicting viewpoints problem. The student improved a lot since last session, particularly on the data interpretation questions. We did a review of prime factorization, factoring polynomials and synthetic division, and probability. We finished up with two practice science passages that I will grade and go over with her next week. She should also do a diagnostic reading test that we can talk about next week. On the actual test, it's advisable to glance at the questions before reading the passage, but this is difficult on the online version."
