Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The first 45 mins was with Student A. We drew pictures on the wall while reviewing and learning the vocab. We reviewed identifying the body parts, numbers, and colors. Then, I taught her how to say: "my name is Student A," "pretty," "good," "thank you," and "I/me." The second 45 mins was with Student B. While playing with his toys, we reviewed some vocab from the previous lessons, including the names of his toys and the action verbs. Then, he learned how to say: "up," "look," "I don't want to," and "I need help." I'll keep repeating these words in the future so he can remember. I plan to speak more and more Chinese and maybe less English. We'll see how it goes."
"We reviewed for her placement exam. There are some characters that she struggles to memorize, but for most of them she's doing very well."
"The student reported that he continues to receive A's in his Chinese class, although he has not had much graded work recently. Today he worked on his clothing unit for Chinese and we also reviewed the colors. We practiced having conversations about when certain types of clothing are worn. We used a new grammatical structure for adverbial clauses that I taught him and he learned quickly. He practiced copying all his new vocabulary words, and although he wrote a few sentences, the focus of today's session was on verbal communication in Chinese."
