Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student and I reviewed for his upcoming math test. Other than some of the principles that just require memorization, he did a good job. I would highly recommend finishing the study guide and spending some time on those trig rules. Well done!"
"We worked on trig identities and she did extremely well for her first session. She was on task and caught on quickly, we did have one problem that was difficult to solve because she hasn't learned the identities for that problem yet. We will work on that one on Tuesday. I do not have any concerns about this student."
"We covered the difference quotient, and reducing rational expressions. The student mostly struggled with the algebraic steps in the difference quotient problems. He seemed like a bright kid and understood it pretty well by the end of the session."
"The student worked on her homework on modeling exponential functions. We talked about each of the physical situations and what each of the variables meant in the equation. We did some calculations, but also focused on the limits of different values to discuss end behavior."
"Today, we went over the student's latest study guide for his precalculus course. We covered a lot of conceptual trigonometry concepts such as finding reference angles and coterminal angles, finding values of trig functions based on given domains of angles, solving equations with trigonometric and logarithmic expressions, and simplifying trigonometric expressions. He seemed to have a good handle on the material going in, and everything he needed help with in this study guide, I explained thoroughly, and now he seems confident to take this exam. I'm looking forward to the next session."
"Since this was our first meeting, we mainly worked on a previous quiz that the student took in order to prepare for an upcoming test. The material was mainly about trigonometric functions as well as their applications. We went over the questions he had some issues with in order to make sure he was prepared. We also went over some of the reasoning and explanations of questions he answered correctly to help him prepare for future questions of the same type. I told him some additional type of exercises he should go over to help strengthen his understanding before the exam."
