"The student has a test on Tuesday on graphical representation and solutions of functions involving absolute values, so we went over his test prep packet. He had no difficulties in most of the problems, but did not know how to modify the graphs according to the instructions in the problem. We spent half of the time analyzing that and he got it in the end. We spent the rest of the time with him solving the problem while I watch and point out any mistakes he might have."
"We focused mainly on graphing by parts. We went over some basic graphs like that of x^3 and the square root of x as well as their domain and range. Then we went through some problems with functions with multiple parts. I helped the student figure out their domains, ranges, and intercepts; we went through graphing them and whether or not the function was continuous."
"We covered: inverse equations, setting up problems to solve for the inverse, and defining what the inverse of an equation means. Word problems involved percentages and inverses. We also discussed graphical interpretations of inverse equations."
"We reviewed all of the problems on the student's review sheet and problems assigned for the test that he had the next day on Chapter 2. He had a strong grasp on almost all of the material and seemed more confident. He is also doing much better at showing all of his work, and this will lead to continued improvement over time."
"Reviewed the process of how to graph functions piece by piece within different horizontal and vertical asymptotes. The student did a great job with this, the only area that could use slight refinement is his recognition of function behavior at the ends of the function (+/i infinity). Then we reviewed finding least common denominators and then finding the roots of the polynomial functions. He had no difficulty with this section."
"We covered some of the trig function concepts, and some of the angular speed vs linear speed concepts. The student is doing great."
