Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Stat - sampling methods vs experiments; parts of the experiment. Geometry - SAS, SSS, transitive and substitution properties, solving for angles with unknown lengths by using variables in relational equations. Physics - Momentum."
"Today we reviewed old material for his midterm on Thursday. We went over quadratic functions, systems of equations, and imaginary numbers. The student was able to work through all the review questions and didn't have any trouble understanding how to solve the problems."
"We covered material that would be on an upcoming test of his: long division, multiplication with decimals, angles, identifying shapes, calculating area and perimeter, identifying types of triangles and orders of operation."
"The student had a test coming up for geometry, so we practiced a lot of the definitions in her book. We also went over solving algebraically for angle measures using properties of parallel lines and transversals, and did a couple practice proofs using theorems about parallel lines. We talked about how if she's unsure where to go initially in a proof to try to work backwards in the proof instead."
"The student and I studied for her test tomorrow. We started making a stack of flash cards and we practiced using theorems, postulates and definitions in proofs. She had a difficult time in the beginning, but she did a much better job on the last proof. She said that the process made more sense by the time we were finished. Well done!"
"I assisted the student with her geometry homework, which consisted of a worksheet on proportions and ratios. She went over problems that dealt with finding the lengths of rectangles based on given information, such as the perimeter or the area, and a ratio for the sides. I explained to her in detail the steps that she had to take."
