Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We began a project on the French Revolution, beginning with a summary of the three estates and their grievances with the Ancient Regime. We also began a timeline that runs from the convening of the Estates General to the execution of Robespierre, giving the background of each event and its historical significance."
"I reviewed the student's world history comparative essay, which she got a score of 4 out of 7. I helped her formulate a new thesis, rework the structure of her essay, and add additional content. After finishing the essay, I went over her most recent global history chapter and explained various concepts relating to European imperialism in the 19th century."
"The student was working on a project about globalization so we got in depth and had a fantastic discussion about globalization and its effects on his family and the world at large. He then consolidated our discussion into a brief paragraph to present in class."
"After implementing our new idea to get organized for the upcoming semester, the student and I began working on his new assignments for World History, specifically looking at Romantic art and how to understand what it means"
"This session, the student was concerned about an upcoming project she had in her World History class. She had an assignment due next week where she had to find 3 primary resources and polish up a topic for her semester-long research project. We went over some notes together that her teacher gave her about finding primary sources before we began search databases. After she had a clear understanding of what she was looking for. We found 3 newspaper articles that were published during the target time periods. After that, we created her bibliography and did some brainstorming and note-taking on the details of her research project. I instructed her to take the written notes to the teacher when she sees her again to make sure that the refined topic and the details of her project presentation were acceptable in her estimation."
"The entire session was focused on essay writing. We started off with the question of cricket's influence on India and worked on the organization of the following document-based essay. The student has a great recall of facts and information, but has trouble organizing it into streamlined essays, which is what the AP exam looks for. We will continue to work on this. For homework, she is to write an outline and a full essay for the document-based question provided: The Han and Roman outlook on technology."
