Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student and I covered his homework, which consisted of factoring third degree polynomials, and in the last 15 minutes we covered log expressions. He was able to do the last problem with only slight help. He is maintaining the same grade as before in his class."
"The student and I covered setting up and solving systems of equations, interest, how to apply the variables, and working with logarithms. We spent a lot of time refreshing and getting back into the mode of doing math. After the session, I sent him a few practice problems that have to do with setting up and solving systems of equations. I also received an example of a practice test, so next session we can focus a bit more on what will specifically be covered on the test. The material seems very similar to the SAT math, so we can use that as a resource for additional problems."
"The student and I covered solving algebraic equations with variables on both sides of the equation, and with fractions or decimals on both sides. We also worked on several word problems from upcoming lesson plans. Once he has the equation, he does a good job of understanding how to solve it. With word problems, however, sometimes he doesn't quite know where to start and how to come up with the equation, so we worked on several of those this time, and we'll continue to work on them in our next session."
"The student and I covered solving equations by substitution and by elimination since he has a test tomorrow. The student was very strong on all the points. We focused on setting up the equations from word problems, solving by elimination, and also by substitution. The student and I also covered some science, and we went over definitions and concepts. He was familiar with everything except for one section, which we will review this coming weekend."
"The student and I covered the concept of simplifying algebraic equations. She needed help with the rules of the sign when multiplying and subtracting like terms, so we went over that in detail. She was focused the whole session."
"The student and I covered the material for her exam this week. I gave her a list of things to work on specifically, which includes domain, range, graphing nonlinear things, and just making sure that her arithmetic is correct. She has a decent grasp on the material, and has the potential to do excellently on the final."
