Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We reviewed introductory logic, as well as application of algebra to solve basic geometrical problems. The student demonstrated understanding of supplementary/complementary angles. We then went over homework and reviewed for the quiz.
He seemed to understand all major concepts. We also reviewed alternative methods to solve algebraic problems more quickly. I do not anticipate he will run into difficulties on his upcoming quiz."

"Today we went over some trigonometry questions. The questions involved trigonometric functions and the unit circle. She had never learned most of the material before like csc, sec, or cot before, but quickly understood how to find them from a right angle triangle. She had also never learned how to convert between radians and degrees. I worked through one example, and she was able to work through the other problems on her own."
"We reviewed the first three sections in Chapter 2 for her upcoming quiz. She understands it all pretty well and did great in the quiz. Unfortunately her teacher was looking for small details that had nothing to do with the mathematical theory so she was a point away from getting an A (89). The student has made great improvements in Geometry and has the opportunity to exceed many expectations."
"The student and I reviewed for her upcoming geometry test. We went over the measuring angles, degrees minutes and seconds, and the unit circle. We also practiced problems with bearings, the law of sines and the law of cosines. Finally, we went over ambiguous case triangles. The student stated that she felt good about the test after our review."
"This session was used to prepare the client for a test he has to take tomorrow. We focused on the Sine rule, Cosine rule and the Pythagorean theorem. He understood the material and felt comfortable with the material which was displayed by the questions he asked. I quizzed him on the material and he was able to answer all the questions correctly. Overall a good session."
"Today I quizzed the student on the material we went over yesterday. Though he took longer than expected to finish the paper, he was able to answer all of the questions correctly except for one postulate related problem. We then went over several more sections of geometry, reviewing the vocabulary, theorems, postulates, examples, and proofs. We then moved on to ACT reading comprehension. Last week he took the practice test and scored 15 out of 40. Today, when I asked him to redo the test (this time while taking notes as he read) his score improved to about 32 out 40, a dramatic increase! I was very, very pleased with this outcome because it showed that some small changes are making a huge difference in the students performance. For homework, I asked him to review today's geometry material once more so that I can quiz him on it tomorrow."
"Today we covered the ratios of side lengths and areas in triangles, geometric probability, and total area and volume of prisms. The first two concepts wrapped up the chapter on area. The student seemed to show deeper understanding of the ratios today. Geometric probability came easy to him. For total and volume of prisms, we spent about an hour on since there are many good, but difficult, application problems. He seemed to do fine with this difficulty. He has the Area chapter test and questions on Prisms that I left him with."
"Yesterday, we took notes on logic, polygons, and the various types of quadrilaterals. We did practice problems from an online source on each topic. The student had a few questions on constructions, so we ended the session with those. She is in good shape for the exam on Friday."
"Continued to prep for the student's Geometry exam. Continued to emphasize showing all work on parts 24, to get as much credit as possible. He's doing a better job of reading the questions carefully, and improving on the multiple choice section."
"We concluded our time together by reviewing some formal logic and I gave him some tips on how to prepare for next year. I told him that definitions are his best friend in geometry. If he keeps up with the definitions and hits the ground running I believe he will do just fine next year."
"We finished up learning theorems and conjectures about circles and moved on to tessellations and transformations. The student has good intuition and picked up on how to do transformations very quickly."
"We went over the student's math assignment for the student's upcoming Geometry class. We went over general algebraic equations and methods as well as graphs of linear equations and the Pythagorean Theorem. Overall, the student seemed to understand the material very well."
