Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We worked on reviewing for her test on Friday. Student did well with difficult concepts. However, it was hard to know how to prepare fully since she didn't know if a calculator would be allowed for graphing hard trig functions. We will continue to work on these concepts next week."
"Topics Covered: - Trigonometric equations - Utilizing the Unit Circle - Trig Identities - Recognizing patterns or hidden identities - Terminal angles Progress Achieved: The student has raised her grade from an 81 to an 86 while being a student of mine. During this session we went through two trig worksheets and worked on word problems such as "Derive the three trig identities using the Unit Circle". She seems to be progressing well and was even teaching me during this session."
"Went over his most recent trigonometry quiz involving functions, areas of triangles using trigonometric functions and derivations, logarithms, absolute value functions, function decomposition, and proofs."
"This week the student and I worked on a math work packet that his teacher assigned him. He answered most of the questions by himself which was great and we briefly discussed the possibility of receiving some biology tutoring by me as well some time in the future."
"In this session we reviewed inequalities for the student's upcoming test. We reviewed graphing and how to solve inequalities by algebra. Overall she did well."
"Today the student and I worked through the study guide practice problems. She understands most of the basic math knowledge required for the test, but seems to have trouble determining how and when to use the different skills. When it comes to word problems she needs a bit of help and encouragement in order to set up a solvable equation from the given information. As our tutoring sessions go on, I plan to help her less and less so that she gains the confidence in solving every problem on her own. After we completed the study guide practice problems, we worked on the practice test that we began last week. I believe that she will benefit the most by going over practice problems and learning, by example, how to solve them."
