Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Today we completed his Biology project over nutrition. We then looked at all of the reviews for Final Exams and mapped out a study plan for the rest of the semester."
"Today I got to know the student and see some of his test scores. We talked a lot about school and testing, and we set up a plan for how to work on his skills this summer. I also had him do a short piece of writing for me so that I could assess what areas he needs to work on. We did some preliminary work on note taking"
"It was our first session. I had the student take a "study skills" and "organizational skills" inventory so that I could see what type of student she is. She is very driven and wants to do well in school. She does study and we talked about her study plan. She is dedicated to working hard this year. She does get nervous while taking tests - so we will work on her test anxiety. She also needs help with knowing what to study. We will work on that as well. When we meet again, she will bring her schedule and any homework that she has once school has started. I really enjoyed working with her and know she will succeed this year in school!!"
"The student and I reviewed what he has read so far in Antigone, which was Ode 1 of the play. We also reviewed Spanish preterite verb conjugations, as well as IOP/ DOP, continuing our practice from last week."
"It was a pleasure to meet with this student today. We worked on a variety of major events from US history, we read the assigned chapters and worked on the assigned problems/questions. The topics included the Industrial Revolution, capitalism, reforms for workers, wages, and rights, early and basic economic theories, and protection of workers' rights. I explained major persons in all of these key events and gave examples of each from the modern day. In addition, I helped him on certain topics by helping him better understand them by drawing them out. We ended the session with a brief summary and web diagram to tie together major points and compromises."
"We began the session discussing the student's most recent work at school. His recent grades are mostly in the nineties or higher. We reviewed an analysis he wrote based on volume measurements we made together in our previous session. After review, he was assigned to rewrite his analysis using all the measurements we made, including a detailed table. We reviewed another assignment he did for me. There was a good written explanation that he completed. I brought some worksheets with me on the side length of right triangles on a coordinate planes. He solved several of the problems successfully, writing explanations of how he did it. I also assigned for him to complete a series of problems using algebra skills with written explanations."
