The whole lesson focused on teaching him how to relate and communicate in a restaurant while in Spain or a Spanish-speaking country. He was not struggling with anything. I have to work on getting him to role play so that he can participate in skits with me and practice being, in like this example, the waiter or the customer, and then switch roles. He seemed to get a "kick" out of how the middle school/high school students performed in the skits. I was going to show him a video where a Spanish teacher was explaining the correct way to order food at the restaurant. I want him to see "Spanish in action", as I had said to both the mom and dad at the session. The major win is that he is relaxed when speaking Spanish and not afraid to tell me what he does indeed know.

During our initial session today, we reviewed the simple present tense conjugations of -ar verbs; regular -er and -ir verbs; and some of the most commonly used irregular verbs, such as hacer, ir, and ser. We also looked at ser vs. estar and when to use which. We reviewed direct and indirect object pronouns and their uses. We also established the concept of 1st, 2nd, and 3rd person sing/plural for the future use. The student will review the first two chapters of her textbook.

He wrote out the answers to the review questions on the guide, which covered regular and irregular present tense verbs, as well as vocabulary from the chapters. The student marked the ones he couldn't remember so that he could go back and practice them later.
