Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We worked through a few small algorithm details for the student's string-comparison assignment. There were two small details that he still needed to address. In particular, I had to help him see how to use parallel data structures (as well as an iterator for doing this) in order to work through some of his data interpretation. He will likely need a little time working through the details of the procedure. We mapped out how this would be done, and he will program the details."
"Today we went over another one of the student's programming assignments. We also reviewed loops, and formatting numerical output. Finally, we went over her midterm exam 1 again, and planned her approach for studying for the second exam coming in April. I have not left them extra practice today, but I am planning on giving her a few extra practice problems so she can use them to study."
"I assisted him with designing a wrapper class that handles a string in preparation for his test. He had some trouble with the structure of a method but seemed to catch on to the patterns of Java as the session progressed. "
"The student and I put the finishing touches on his homework. Afterwards, we worked on classes and did a review on inheritance. He will be learning inheritance in class tomorrow. Overall, he is improving and is able to solve problems on his own with some guidance."
"Today the student created a character class to keep track of the player and the enemies during combat. We looked at how inheritance could make the code simpler, and explored which factors should be taken into consideration during combat."
