Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"In this session, the student practiced solving word problems that involved proportions and related rates. We discussed the importance of keeping track of units as a method of checking his work. We also discussed the trigonometry acronym SOHCAHTOA and how to apply it. Then he solved word problems to practice using trig functions."
"In this session the student and I started working on his chemistry lab report. This lab report was based on an experiment he had done in class and focused on stoichiometry and percent yield calculations. We completed the introduction, background information, and materials and procedure. Overall he had a good concept of the aim of the experiment. We then switched over to geometry and worked on properties of parallelograms, rhombuses, and rectangles. He is moving along quite well with these."
"We did a worksheet she had for homework going over properties of rectangles, squares, and rhombuses. We used the properties to prove the parallelograms were certain figures and solved for the side requested."
"This was our first session. We covered what the student needed and went over basic proofs, specifically focusing on theorems of equality and substitution and transitive properties."
"We worked on her current homework, which was using congruence criteria to identify lengths and angles in triangles. I helped her understand the importance of working with the given information, and not extrapolating based on assumptions."
"The student and I covered quadrilaterals during this session, with a specific focus on the properties of the parallelogram, rectangle, square, rhombus, kite, and trapezoid. We covered a few examples of proofs she may encounter. She was learning angles in class and had little problem with the material."
