"At the beginning of today's lesson I had the student performing an oral activity to practice her communication skills in Spanish. The activity consisted of describing her own family applying the vocabulary words related to family members that we studied last time. During the presentation she was able to point out every member of her family in Spanish as well as their age. After that activity, we went over some grammar concepts. I explained to her that Spanish does not use the apostrophe to show possession. Instead, in Spanish we use the word (de) plus the noun to express possession or relationship. After my explanation she practiced this concept by forming small sentences which expressed possession. Upon the completion of this activity we moved on to the presentation of new vocabulary words now related to art. She was very excited about this topic since she is very involved in art. We went over the correct pronunciation and spelling of each vocabulary word. In order for her to develop the understanding of these new words we watched a small video in Spanish about the artist Frida Khalo. She had the opportunity to practice her listening skills in Spanish and hear the new vocabulary words in context. Additionally, during this lesson vocabulary related to animals was introduced as well. We went over each vocabulary word and after practicing the pronunciation of each word she was able to describe plenty of the animals by describing their size, color and placing the right article (el-la) before each word to point out if they were masculine or feminine. In general she has been achieving every learning goal so far and shows progress every time we meet."
"The student is doing very well. Today, we reviewed singular, definite and indefinite articles. From there, we studied plural indefinite articles."
"Really fun to work with the student and her husband! I recommended they pick up a book to help us with structure."
