Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student and I covered the characteristics and definitions of monopolies. We did this both graphically and in verbiage. He seems to love the material. The strategy we are employing is to slow down and to explain everything out loud. The problem does not seem to be his understanding the material, but rather the learning and testing process. The school provides plenty of material for practice and study. The last quiz was better than the one before. He has a complete understanding of the subject matter. I consider this a win."
"Today, we went over the problems that she missed on her exam. These were due to small errors in comprehension of the question due to tricky writing style of the professor. I did teach her about the relationship between total revenue and elasticity. Afterwards, we went over new concepts such as explicit vs. opportunity costs, accounting vs. economic profit, and the shutdown point of production."
"I helped the student brainstorm and compose five short answers for her final. Please remind her to email her professor with the grade she expects to receive, as that was part of the instructions for the closing of the course."
"I met with the student to update her resume. We completed this task. She wanted help refining and editing, which we did through phone and email conversations. We focused on making her resume streamlined, concise, and objective-driven."
"Reviewed multiple regression related concepts and process. Reviewed differences between simple and multiple linear regressions. Reviewed adjusted r-square and p-value in multiple regressions. Reviewed dummy variable related definitions."
"The student and I had a good initial session. We first briefly discussed her "game plan" again to successfully prepare for the placement tests and agreed to focus on algebra first. I had confirmed access to the text she was using - a newer edition - and I also had a number of resources to share including PowerPoint slides. We started using these as a lecture/review tool and she was able to identify the concepts she felt comfortable with as well as those in which she needed practice. I was able to pull several sample problems for her and forwarded these through email so that she could practice. She will be working on these and returning her results for review."
