Topics included the definition of different classification of enzymes such as kinase, phosphorylase etc., insulin, beta cells, pancreas, diabetes type 1 vs. 2, chaperone proteins, activation energy, equilibriums, primary vs. secondary vs. tertiary protein structure, etc.

[COVERED]: The student and I tore through Mechanics. Having discussed Vectors and Kinematics already, we discussed how to use and mix the three laws of Newton, and how to decrypt word problems' phrasing. We then moved on to a discussion of the generation of the Normal Force & Friction, followed by a series of problems integrating and applying them on in inclined planes. [PROGRESS/CHALLENGES]: I used the arithmetic-heavy problems to identify a minor problem in estimation and multiplying decimals. The student cottoned on with her usual quickness.

The student and I reviewed several questions from the quant guide, which he completed for homework. He was struggling with some of the geometry, so we reviewed some of the applicable concepts. I assigned him the balance of the geometry from this book. We then wrapped up the algebra strategies and I assigned him several difficult algebra questions from the guide. He is going to take a practice exam, which we will use to determine our next topic.

The student completed her homework and had some questions throughout the math. I showed her in geometry how to redraw overlapping figures to isolate shapes and clarify relationships. She was quite comfortable with probability and combinatorics and had only a few questions on fractions and decimals.

The student continues to improve in multiple sections of the test, particularly reading comprehension. He took a practice exam recently, and is scoring not too far away from an acceptable score, though obviously he'd prefer to be scoring higher. We took a look at the questions from that test that had given him difficulty, as well as a couple of questions from his workbook. He's going to keep reviewing that test this week and bring a jot list of final problems for our next meeting.
