During this session, we reviewed the nature of horizontal, vertical, and stretch transformations to various parent functions including absolute value, radical, quadratic, and cubic functions. The student graphed these types of functions with various transformations, and we discussed the nature of each transformation relative to the parent function. We also reviewed problems on adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing functions and creating composite functions. Finally we discussed how to determine the domain for each function focusing on the nature of the restricted domains for the radical and rational functions.

During today's session, the student and I reviewed quadratic equations and expression involving completing the square. I modeled and explained the process for completing the square. He was feeling better about completing the square and how it relates to the vertex form of the quadratic equation. This is a topic that we will revisit during the next session as well.

During today's session, we covered multiplication. She completed a multiplication drill. She exceeded her goal of having 28 correct problems by having 34 correct problems. She practiced exercises involving multiplication using arrays and basic multiplication facts. She displayed a positive attitude about reviewing the concepts.

First, the student and I went over the math material he had for homework this week. It included adding, subtracting, and multiplying decimals, and finding the LCM and GCF. For the remainder of the time, we reviewed order of operations. I noticed that he struggled with it when I first met him; however, now, he is completing problems that are more difficult than he has seen! I am very happy about that. He tends to make simple mistakes (possibly from going too fast and not checking his work), but that is an easy fix.

First, the student completed warm-up algebra exercises. I also brought extra practice to help him study describing graphs using inequalities. He worked on a few graphing inequalities problems online before we took a look at his classwork. He said that this week has mostly been review, so we looked at what he will be covering next - piecewise functions. He is doing great in his class. I would like to continue practicing algebra as much as possible, helping him review everything that he is learning, and building strong study habits.

First, we did the corrections of mistakes on a last quiz. After that, we were deriving the equation of quadratic function in standard form with three given points from the graph. Particularly, we set up a system of three equations with three variables, and then we solve it algebraically. We used Gaussian elimination. Next, we derive the system by solving using matrices. We were also discussed a strategy of managing of time when taking a quiz.
