"We worked on the study packet for the student's final. The student's overall Spanish language skills improved significantly! It was a pleasure helping and working with him."
"We discussed the student's final project; he mentioned the topics about Costa Rica that he felt he had not learned enough about. I pointed him towards researching the ecological reserve and the form of government (the latter on the official website for Costa Rica). We reviewed the past tense conjugations for -ar verbs, focusing on the verbs that change in spelling (busco > busque, pago > pague). I suggested a different flashcard strategy, where the student could put various sentence subjects on one set of flashcards (Kobe Bryant = el, Michelle Obama y mi mama = ellas, Lady Gaga y yo = nosotros, etc.) and a second set of flashcards with the verb in English on one side and the Spanish verb with all its past tense conjugations on the other. That way, he can pair cards from each set to create random sentences (random subject with random verb and corresponding conjugation), as he needs to practice choosing the correct subject and then conjugating the verb accordingly. He was also going to bring his textbook home so that he could make sure his flashcards were spelled correctly."
"The student practiced for his upcoming final. We focused on the use of sentence structures in the subjunctive mood."
