Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student read pages 52-79 from her "Aesop's Fables" book. She answered story questions and properly identified suffixes. Her reading is improving. She is able to break down unfamiliar words into syllables and sound them with only a small amount of guidance."
"We started the session with sight words; we reviewed reading the words and then I had him spell the words. He did very well again-this time he only missed one out of 22. I thought he needed a change of pace during this session, so I had picked out a short chapter book to practice with today. I believe the book is a third grade level. I checked the book out for him and sent it home with him and his father. I took about five minutes with each of them to explain how to read together in a way that will help the student."
"The student and I did reading practice today-both by doing short stories and also reading from two books of his selection. He did a really good job."
"We worked on sorting words again, and on reading the "Monster Fliers" book about pterosaurs. The student continued to do fairly well with the word-sorting, especially after having seen all the words before, and he read through the book faster on the second read-through."
"We worked on the A to Z Jr. game, which reinforced categories, reading, and organization for the older children and beginning sounds for Student 1. Student 2 read from her book, Judy Moody, and Student 3 read from her book Junie B. Jones. We also did a read aloud activity with Charlie and the Chocolate Factory."
"We worked on the student reading what he sees and elimination of words that are not in the passage. We worked on tracking the words so he will not omit, substitute, or insert words. He was very pleasant and eager to participate in his session. I left him a packet to complete of a practice SAT 10 that we began together."
