Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Today we went over a practice test that was given to the student to prepare him for the test tomorrow. He is a smart student that knows the subject, but needed some help in logarithms. Next meeting will be Monday at 12 Noon."
"The student and I worked on her Ch.6 assignment on solving inverse trigonometric functions. She was much more organized this time and is getting much more adept at using the unit circle to solve problems. We finished the entire set in our session and I am confident that she can do these problems much better now."
"Today we worked on log functions with trig functions. The student was confused by which steps to use first. We worked though his homework problems and discussed what needed to be manipulated to make the problem solvable. We also discussed his test a little. He is going to send me the graded exam through email when he receives it so that I can see what he did wrong and help him fix it."
"We continued with trigonometric functions of right triangles, including addressing some "real-world application" type problems. I showed the student how to calculate the area of a triangle given two sides and its included angle, and gave him a short write-up of the explanation."
"The student and I went over the rest of his final packet. I made sure that he understood each section in the packet by going over at least one example per section. With my guidance, he had a good refresher on the material and understood it better than before. As long as he completes the packet and memorizes the required formulas, he will do well on his final."
"The student and I met to discuss the semester as a whole. We talked about workload, balance, and work experience. I explained where Calculus II fits in the sequence of math skill development, and we worked on differentiating and integrating inverse trigonometric functions."
