Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We covered part of the chapter of transformations, including reflections, translations, rotations, and tessellations. Overall, she has the most difficulty with problems that involve coordinates/graphing, but throughout the session she seemed to get more comfortable as I reviewed the material with her. I reinforced the basic concepts for each type of transformation and told her to focus more on the ordered pairs given and just apply the rules. Her textbook has good practice problems."
"We did corrections for the student's test. She also worked on her homework. The homework was about special right triangles. To help her understanding I made connections to material she has studied previously."
"The student had a bunch of tests and quizzes coming up this week so we prepared for that. We started with biology and drilled on glycolysis, the Krebs cycle and oxidative phosphorylation to make sure she was really solid on those for her test. We also reviewed mechanisms for getting oxygen into a body. From there we worked on geometry where she has had some questions lately. We practiced a bunch of ratio questions and she has a good feel for the material now."
"We reviewed the student's geometry HW, introducing the angle-side-angle and angle-angle-side concepts. We then began chemistry review for a test next Monday. We also introduced molar mass and began practice on a few problems."
"The student and I studied for a comprehensive review test, so went back and studied everything she has done over the year. She needed special review on rotations and reflections, the first things we did together. Her grasp of the mathematics is very strong, and she should do well."
"The student and I went over a study guide to prepare for her final exam. We revisited old topics we had seen throughout the semester, including factoring, synthetic and long division, plotting functions, and so on. Our session was good practice to straighten out the details of concepts she hadn't seen in a long time."
