Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We went over the last half practice test the student had completed over the prior week. He showed more improvement in the verbal sections than math and we spent more time going over some challenging math problems. For next week he will work on another practice test."
"The student and I started with a writing section today. I gave tips before she took the 30 minute section, including that the intro paragraph should start off general and end with a thesis statement, the conclusion essentially restates the intro in different words, and make an outline before writing the essay unless you find it counterproductive for you (i.e. you take too much time on it). We spent the rest of our time doing an English section. I noticed marked improvement in her ability to identify grammatical errors of redundancy, disagreeing verb forms in lists, comma usage, apostrophes and possessive pronouns. I also explained the difference in usage between who and whom. Overall, a very productive and encouraging session."
"We began by doing 3 practice sections -- the boys did not have their exams for reference, so I thought I would see what they could do in a practice test. We then discussed what were the most difficult parts, so we focused on vocab, critical reading strategies, and time management."
