Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student and I discussed his progress with his summer reading project. At the time of the session, he was on the final chapter of the book. He wrote an idea for a theme that he wants to explore in his essay. I emailed the student a sample reading schedule the morning following the lesson. We discussed his average time for reading a chapter and recording important information from that chapter. I want him to see what timeframe he is looking at for finishing the project."
"We continued to work on the student's ability to comprehend what he is reading, as this is a skill that will benefit him in high school and beyond. To do this, we reviewed the homework assignment I presented him with last week (an Economist article that I had him annotate). After reviewing this article, we discussed the reading comprehension techniques that we have discussed in past sessions. Once we were done discussing this, we moved forward and applied these lessons to more practice ACT sections. The student is certainly improving in his ability to comprehend what he is reading. For 'homework' this week, I sent him another Economist article that I requested him to read and annotate."
"The student and I worked diligently on reviewing an upcoming research paper. He chose a topic related to "work space stress," and we reviewed resources online, and began putting ideas on paper."
