Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student continued his prep for the College assessment test that will take place next week. We covered reading comprehension, analogies, and vocabulary. His average score on these topics was 94, so he's doing great."
"During this session, we continued with sight word practice and completing lessons in his text. We started with reviewing the sight words I had given the him. I gave him a spelling test and he got all 20 words correct."
"The student and I started with math again. On Monday, we had chosen some problems from Chapter 8-1 for her to do as homework for today (from what we reviewed that day). She did the first couple of problems. We went through the unfinished problems together, and began the next section, 8-2. Again, we reviewed the materials, went through a few problems together, and assigned a few problems as homework. I also gave her notecards for the key concepts we were discussing in these 2 sections. We also talked about some test taking skills. Next, we worked on "To Kill A Mockingbird", chapters 10 and 11. She had written chapter summaries for both."
"The student read "The Magic Tree House" Ch.2 with some support. We worked on a review of Language Arts homework, and we completed a review of three days of L.A. homework on main ideas, writing unknown terms and defining them, and describing a picture in text and how it helps the reader to understand the author's message."
"The student read 2 books and wrote responses for each. He read "Creepy Carrots" and "Fire and Rescue." I also read "Benjamin Bunny" to him. He is improving on writing responses; however, needs to continue to practice on reading on a daily basis."
"The student read a book about gardening. It contained words like seeds, flowers, pumpkins, etc. He also read a book about a fish who couldn't dance. We painted Christmas ornaments and read lists of words. He is sounding out words and using good intonation on his reading!"
