"My tenth session with this student went well. We started by discussing the practice exam that she took on Monday. She felt comfortable with the Quantitative section of the exam, but she found the Essay and the Integrated Reasoning sections more challenging. I outlined strategies to craft the Analysis of an Argument essay, including selecting three assumptions in the passage that need support and using a five-paragraph structure to write the essay. We then reviewed a few Data Sufficiency questions in the GMAT guide before moving to the Problem Solving section. The student is doing well on Problem Solving questions, as they are more straightforward than Data Sufficiency questions. I encouraged her to use factoring when dealing with large numbers to either multiply or divide, which would make the arithmetic in the equations easier to handle. For our next session, she will complete the Verbal section of the practice exam. She will also complete additional practice questions from the Reading Comprehension, Critical Reasoning, and Sentence Correction sections of the GMAT guide."
"Review two quizzes. both verbal and quant. Review quant questions from official GMAT book, as well as methods for CR arguments and inference questions."
"Did a lot of straight Math problems. The student just needs to keep practicing the word problems and evaluating how to set up the equations, as this is the real key. She can adequately do the Math manipulation, but I'd like to see her improve on putting the pieces together. Next session we will work on some Verbal (reading comp and critical reasoning) and perhaps get to Data Sufficiency."
