During this session, the student and I spent equal time on the reading and math sections.  We talked about strategies for passage-related reading questions - I printed out some strategies and ideas related to the reading section - and then we worked through some questions together.  I also had her work a few passages by herself to see how she usually tackles the questions on her own, as well.  I assigned her some practice with the reading sections before our next session.  I'll be interested to see how she thinks a full, timed session goes with the new strategies we talked about.  I also had her work through some math problems - some on her own, some with me - in order to continue looking for the types of problems that she struggles with the most.  Overall, I think the session was productive and I hope she starts to get more comfortable with the reading sessions as she practices with her homework assignment.

Once again, we focused mostly on verb conjugations but branched-out into sentence formation - - - especially with "ser" and "estar" which were the two verbs that the student was focusing upon during the past week of school. While getting better at identifying the proper conjugation, the student keeps getting the "them" and "we" conjugations and the "you" and "he / she" conjugations mixed up....so we tried some exercises focusing on this. Lastly, we learned some new words to help lengthen our sentences....such as time and days.

The narrative was detailed; however, we were able to pinpoint the specific values that could be itemized, place them in the appropriate categories, and then evaluate if all or a portion of the value could be fully deductible. The categories included the following: Medical expenses (subject to a % AGI limitation); state and local taxes and real estate taxes; mortgage interest on a first and second mortgage; charitable contributions; a (casualty) and theft loss; other itemized expenses, such as tax prep fees; and gambling losses up to winnings.
