Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Today the student and I practiced writing uppercase and lowercase letters and also did some elementary math. She was very enthusiastic about the math and was getting the answers correct without my help. She also loved practicing her letters. Next time we will continue to read and complete more elementary math problems."
"Yesterday we went over section 11.1 in the student's textbook. We reviewed all of the problems in that section along with the ones from the practice test that correlated with this section. We are going to work on the student's consistency. She needs to make sure that whenever she does a problem she thoroughly understands it."
"Today we went over a mathematics review quiz to determine what skills the student needs to practice the most. After taking the quiz, we discussed the sections that she had the most difficulty with. She had the most trouble with the number and quantity portion of the assessment. We began reviewing scientific notation, place value, and rounding. She stated that math is her weakest area, but she had a positive attitude about doing practice problems. We discussed strengthening her weakest areas so that she can obtain the desired amount of questions (approx 56) right so that she can pass the test. Tomorrow, I will be emailing her some practice problems to complete before our next session."
"The two students and I prepared for their upcoming test. They had review material which we worked through. The test will cover the Pythagorean theorem, including applications and the distance formula. The first student was able to move through the material more quickly and used his conceptual understanding to find some great shortcuts for the more tedious work, especially the converse Pythagorean. He had a few small errors on the applied problems but was able to correct them quickly. The second student was able to use the formula itself correctly and also do the basic Pythagorean algorithm consistently. Good job!!"
"Today we reviewed the student's last exam. We worked on helping him understand the concept of fractions. Next time, I want to work with Lego pieces to help him visualize the concepts."
"Today the student and I worked on his math, vocabulary, and writing assignments. In math class he is now learning how to calculate the area of a triangle and he completed his homework. We looked over the paper he worked on yesterday. Lastly, we worked on the vocabulary homework he was assigned."
