"We covered the structure of DNA and the first half of DNA replication. One concern I have with him is that he does not voice what he does and doesn't understand. He can learn this stuff if he were to have more motivation and time spent in it. I told him to really master the concepts we went over today and I will ask him to teach me, so that he has the pressure to explain the concept without not knowing what he does not know. If he doesn't teach it to me without knowing what parts he does not understand (so having lots of questions is fine, as long as he can say he does not understand them), I will be even more concerned."
"Last week, the student took an exam on electronic structure and molecular orbital theory, which was her first exam since we started working together. She disclosed that her grade significantly improved from her previous exams! Great work! This week, we began discussing concepts from the next unit on periodic properties of elements. We mainly focused on effective nuclear charge and how this affects atomic size. We will review these concepts again before her quiz next Wednesday."
"We first went back to a problem we had solved before (chapter 3) and I corrected both the interpretation of the question and the answer for the same. We then moved on to clarify a few concepts from chapter 5 and solve a few questions. I have promised to send him some extra practice questions over the weekend."
