Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We worked on discussing the disparate impact on the depression on various areas of America. We then continued work on an article concerning the politics of education in the United States, noting that most people prefer to have their children educated by standard curriculum. We also learned and discussed the impacts of the different methods of teaching the subject and what relation it actually has on teens."
"The student's teacher has assigned supplemental reading packets on US-Mexican relations in terms of US Manifest Destiny. There were seven lessons in the packet, he completed 4 of them in our session. He applied the note-taking strategies he has been using to "mark the text" - this generally means underlining key and appropriate ideas/terms/people but also included some places where writing brief notes, drawing arrows to connect ideas, or putting (parentheses) around ideas-within-ideas were necessary. He knows the educational lingo - "annotate" - but didn't really understand it or know how to apply it. He marked each lesson a chunk at a time when I reviewed it. I offered comments of praise and construction. He was able to answer the review questions easily by referring to his marks."
"We covered key terms/ideas from the "Last West" and Totalitarianism (and forms of) from WWII. The client requested more key terms for each lesson. Vocabulary is his weakest part of history."
