Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student has a math test Friday that will focus on proofs. Therefore, our session mainly focused on reviewing different examples of congruent triangle proofs. We reviewed the many acronyms used as reasons to support statements (ASA, SAS, AAS, SSS, HL, CPCTC). We also reviewed common properties and definitions such as the reflexive property, def. of right angle, def. of isosceles triangle, def. of parallel lines, etc. ). Overall, she seems to have a better handle on proofs in general."
"Today we spent one hour on Geometry and the last half hour on Spanish. He is reviewing for midterms, and I am optimistic about his math exam. He understands a lot of the nuances of 'proving' something to be true, and his algebra skills are strong. In Spanish, we mostly reviewed verb conjugations and telling time. His only struggle seems to be when forming an entire sentence on his own. Fill-in-the-blank exercises are easy enough for him, but he needs to work more on writing full sentences. This is something I hope to help him with during our next meeting."
"The student and I covered ways of writing and graphic quadratic equations. At the end of our session, we practiced for the math section of the preliminary admissions test that she will soon complete."
"We covered the concepts of triangle congruence and how to prove different triangles are congruent. We also discussed some questions involving if a triangle can have more than 180 degrees in spherical geometry. The student's biggest struggle was recognizing where she could apply different theorems to give her the missing angles and sides. She worked through the take home test and we did the lesson review. She made excellent efforts to solve the problems and in several cases used different methods to solve the problems."
"The student has been doing a wonderful job overall. She is still finishing her assignment on a timely basis and retaining the information that has been taught to her. Today's lesson was about some basic triangle properties. The properties include similar triangles, midpoint formula, and proportional triangles. She seemed to grasp the material rather quickly. We were able to move through the material with not too much difficulty. She is doing well overall."
"The student and I studied for her test on polygons and quadrilaterals. She struggled with all the properties of quadrilaterals; however she studied hard during the session and she ended up getting a 90% on her test. We went over the different formulas, she completed her homework, and completed an algebra review homework assignment as well. She works hard and is always a pleasure to work with."
