Tutoring review by Carin in Zion, IL
The student started by completing his worksheet that he had started in class. It was already mostly completed, and he finished it quickly. After checking his answers, we moved on to his review sheets covering fractions and decimals. He managed to complete a page and a half. Then we moved to the computers upstairs, and did some practice with multiplying and dividing exponents. He was able to complete 20 questions in about as many minutes. With practice, he should be able to pick up his speed.

Tutoring review by Eric in Zion, IL
We worked on material in the student's test review packet. Her next test with cover exponential growth and decay functions, recursive formula, and matrices. The student did well with a topics covered. She made algebraic errors a few times when solving for the unknown variable. We went through the correct steps to solve this equations. The student also did well writing the functional and recursive formula for geometric and arithmetic sequences. Again, I told her to slow down when solving the problems and to ask herself if the answer makes sense.

Tutoring review by Payal in Zion, IL
In this session ACT reading/ math/ writing/ science subjects were covered. For each subject, practice questions were answered by the student and tutor. In math, graphs, matrices, and logs were covered. In reading, strategies for answering passages were covered. In writing, grammar rules and practice questions were covered. The student was excited to learn new strategies and did well in the practice sessions. I left the student with a few links to review books and I will follow up in an email with videos on specific subjects. The student did not have a complete understanding of certain subject material (ex: chemistry and physics) so I recommended her to get a better understanding of the material before answering passages on those topics. Overall, she did a great job and with practice she will get significantly better.

Tutoring review by Maggie in Zion, IL
This was our first session. We jumped right into reviewing some homework problems involving polynomial functions (factoring and simplifying). We also worked on simplifying rational functions. The student is missing some conceptual algebra knowledge, so every time she got stuck on approaching a problem, I'd take some time and review some properties, theorems, formulas, etc. so she can apply them to the problems.

Tutoring review by Melissa in Zion, IL
The student's first 6 weeks is wrapping up so he just has one more test and two projects to complete. He is pretty prepared across the board and doesn't have a lot of any one thing to complete in order to finish everything on time. He is ending the first 6 weeks feeling pretty good, which will give him the confidence to head strongly into the second 6 weeks.
