Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student finished her homework from last time, then we reviewed dates, numbers and writing of names of animals. Then we continued to read more pages of the "animal book" I brought from China. We identified more characters, and I helped her to read more sentences and then finally write those she has learned before but forgotten. The homework is to finish the worksheet where I drew boxes for her to fill in the characters."
"The student did well for the duration of this session as we mainly reviewed past vocabulary that he has learned in order to ensure maximum retention and immersion. He is a fast learner and has good memory with many Spanish vocabulary terms he has learned."
"Today, the student and I began with a brief review of the present perfect from last time before going over the remainder of the perfect tenses, including the past perfect, future perfect, conditional perfect, perfect subjunctive, and perfect past subjunctive. We reviewed these tenses with some speaking exercises and then moved on to our final tense, the imperfect subjunctive. We went over the conjugation for the imperfect subjunctive and then finished our session with some examples of when it is used, what generally precedes it, and why it is necessary in terms of the meaning of the sentence."
"Student 1: We reviewed and practiced the conjugation of irregular verbs in the present tense (indicativo), checking its different rules. Student 2: We did reading comprehension exercises about indigenous people, focusing on the understanding of new vocabulary."
"We looked over the student's old exams that she didn't do so well on. I corrected some grammar mistakes and explained them to her from an essay. Most of the time we spent on practicing for her next Spanish quiz. I asked her questions verbally (that she would be answering through writing in the quiz) that she had to answer. I corrected her grammar and other concepts she had trouble with. We practiced the days of the week, how to spell them, and their accents. I told her to practice what we had practiced when I left. The session went well."
"Today the student did her homework, which was to write down the new vocabulary from the video she watched on a list. As she recalled and type these words, I corrected her pronunciation. Also her teacher asked her to answer questions about the Chinese Lunar New year. With the help from me and Google, she finished it very quickly. Then we watched a video clip about the Chinese New Year Gala Show. She took a lot of notes and got to know more about the holiday."
