Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Today we went over comparative passages, and the student took to them right away. We did not have to spend as much time as I thought we would. This allowed us enough time to take a full practice test in which he scored a 30, a huge improvement over his score of 19. After that, going over further strategies seemed unnecessary, so instead I refreshed his memory on what to bring to the test on test day and how to eat, rest, and practice independently before the test. I gave him access to some practice test resources. I am confident that he will improve his score significantly the next time he takes the test."
"The student got his most recent ACT results back, which were very similar to the one he took before beginning tutoring sessions. I am a bit surprised because he seems to be progressing very well in our sessions. I am very optimistic for his next results. Yesterday, he and I continued working through an English section, his area needing the most improvement. We discussed parts of speech and identified how to use punctuation with different kinds of phrases. He took some good notes and was able to summarize most of it back to me at the end of our session. This makes me optimistic for improvement in the future. We then did some practice with math questions and reading questions. In two timed exercises, he got a perfect 10/10 both times. I'm very pleased!"
"Today we reviewed the initial Diagnostic test the student completed. Though his initial score needed improvement, his ability to understand and provide the best answers this time around showed a marked improvement. The student still needs to work on areas like coordinate geometry, but most of his issues stem from not yet remembering all of the formulas necessary to get through the questions successfully. The student is doing very well with concepts like factoring/FOILing, as well as logarithms and inequalities. The student was able to complete some test sections from his ACT book this last week, and he stated that he does see his scores improving. I have provided the student with two more practice sets and have encouraged him to continue completing sections from his book."
