Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"He started the session well by working comfortably through his social studies review and math homework. In math, he understands ratios fairly well, but he made a couple errors in filling out ratio tables (adding to some instead of multiplying). He began working on comm arts (commas) towards the end of the session."
"He worked on completing p. 342 evens. We reviewed what makes a parallelogram a parallelogram and he has a study guide for it. He also worked on completing a flip chart on polygons. He worked consistently and did OK. He still needs some guidance with the vocabulary. He should review some of the study guides we've made together on a regular basis."
"Today we focused on long division of decimals and employed conversion to whole numbers and ten exponentials to simplify some of the problems he worked. He is improving tremendously in regards to conceptualizing multiples of the divisor and sticking to the order of steps in order to solve the problems. We also reviewed spelling words in his textbook."
"We spent some time working on multiplication and division. The student has grasped most of the concepts in multiplication, which is great to see. We will focus on division during our next session."
"We are continuing to focus mostly on word problems. This last session I helped her with her practice test. She has good instincts. She has been getting good scores on the homework she does independently, but she still needs help with some word problems. However, we are seeing progress and last session she did two word problems completely solo. Her attitude is improving with her confidence! I went over a couple of new approaches to D=RT problems that didn't involve a table and I am emphasizing a more dynamic approach to the material instead of a formulaic one which I think will help her on the tougher problems. I left her with instructions to review all of the past word problems to see if she can still do them. Independent homework assignments seem to be in the mid B range, from what I've seen."
"We began working on the new content for the current chapter today. We covered ratios, proportions and quadratic equations. The student did great today!"
