Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We reviewed graphing rational polynomials, completing the square, and utilizing logs to solve exponential equations. He has some practice problems from his teacher to finish up for his final tomorrow."
"We reviewed earlier sections that were covered before the student started private tutoring, as well as studying for the final exam of the semester. Topics included: simplification, fractional exponents, negative exponents, slope-intercept form, point-slope form, standard form, and the slope formula. The student informed me that she received an 88 on her exam."
"We covered log properties and the student worked on his physics homework. He really seemed to follow the log properties, so we went over how to begin the circular motion problems in his physics homework. When I left, I told him to keep solving the physics problems until he got familiar with them."
"The student and I met to discuss graphing trigonometric functions. We worked on recognizing how to move from the y = A sin (B(x-h)) + k to a graph of the function. We also discussed constructing Free Body Diagrams in physics."
"We went over a couple of points before the student's exam tomorrow. He seemed comfortable. We just had to go over a few clarification points on graphing functions, solving inequalities, solving log equations, and graphing logs. Once they were clarified, he was ready for the test."
"The student and I continued to go over elimination today. I showed him that sometimes it's easier to complete an elimination problem if in the middle of it you stop every once and awhile to factor out complicated fractions from the equation. He has definitely improved his comprehension of elimination as compared to the last time I worked with him."
