"The student worked on math worksheets which tested the application of the distance formula and the Pythagorean theorem. He also worked through a practice English section."
"The student did a practice ACT exam that was about half the length of a full one. She did pretty well on English and Reading and struggled mostly with math. We will be focusing on her problem solving skills moving forward."
"Today, I introduced the student to the reading section of the ACT. After giving him an overview of the section and basic strategies, he took the reading comprehension section of test 1 in his ACT book. We went over each passage after he finished it. Overall, the student was very strong in interpreting the passage, identifying the main point, describing the tone, and understanding metaphoric language. He received a scaled score of 28, which places him in the 85%. This is a very strong score as he is beginning to practice this section. He was about equally strong in the arts and literature as he was in the studies and sciences passages. He had the most difficulty with questions that asked what the author implied. We will continue reviewing each of the sections next week."
