Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We went over Physics and Geometry during this session. The student is beginning proofs, theorems, and postulates. I noticed that she was very quick to learn how to approach proofs and problems. Her exam is on Wednesday and we went over her notes and the extra practice her teacher gave her. I showed her easier methods to approach proofs and ways to figure concepts out more simply. We then went over physics and the lab they did in class. I stood by as she wrote her conclusion and showed her ways to figure out possible sources of error, as their numbers were extremely fluctuated. I showed her ways to set up proportions and cancel units out. She seemed to pick up on that well, but I do plan on reviewing the little bit of physics we did together on Wednesday (our next tutoring session)."
"This was my first session of the school year with the student. We covered midpoints and endpoints of lines."
"The student is performing well in his classes (Geometry and Chemistry). We went over various methods for solving quadratic expressions."
"Since the student is advanced on his Geometry, we decided to review all the Chapter 7 chapter problems. We also went ahead to Chapter 8 and reviewed ratio and proportion and practice solving algebraic expressions."
"We specifically covered the Pythagorean theorem and its applications to word problems. The student understood the Pythagorean theorem, but has a bit of trouble applying it to class problems. I left her to finish the rest of the problems by herself, and to also review the chapter section on the Pythagorean theorem. Overall, the session was excellent."
"We met after our long break in between semesters and jumped back into geometry work. Most of the time was spent reviewing two of her homework/review sheets where she had trouble at first with proofs, but by the end seemed to have a much better grasp of the concept. We also worked on working out the problems algebraically and double checking the work to make sure a negative number or a misplaced variable didn't cause trouble."
