Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student and I studied practice multiple choice problems for her exam next Wednesday. She reviewed methods from earlier this year."
"We went over free response questions to help her prepare for her upcoming calculus final. She did very well and hardly struggled at all."
"The student is preparing for his upcoming AP test, and wanted me to go over some last minute questions with him. We reviewed reading graphs and understanding how derivative graphs relate to the original function and the difference between average value and average rate of change."
"The student was very pleasant to work with, always a positive and has an upbeat attitude. The majority of what we focused on was showing her work and why mistakes can be made when performing mental math and not showing your work. Our primary focus of the hour was going over adding and multiplying fractions. I also went over simplifying fractions with her and how to show her work more clearly and thoroughly. She was really excited when she started to understand and grasp the concept of multiplying and adding fractions."
"The student and I worked on constructing scale diagrams and reviewed some basic rules of geometry. Specifically, we reviewed the definitions of parallel, perpendicular, and the height of a shape (trapezoid, triangle, rectangle). For study skills, we worked on isolating the information that is needed from a question by writing it down. We also worked on checking our work by going over these points once we have our answer. The student did great!"
"I had the student complete several math and logic problems. The goal is to teach him to think logically, which will help him not only in his current math classes, but in future classes as well. After about an hour of this type of math, we moved over to his classwork. We worked on transformations and symmetry. He seemed to understand these concepts pretty well."
