Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We went over the student's homework and classwork that will be due the next couple of days. She remembered a lot from last semester, so I simply provided a couple of pointers. We looked at how to use triangles to solve trigonometric functions and practiced using identities to find all six trig functions."
"The student's test was going to cover integration, so we spent most of our time dealing with the precursor, Riemann sums."
"We went over review questions today, mostly from pre-calculus. We spent a lot of time on complex numbers expressed in polar coordinates. I brought her some questions about integration, but we didn't get to many of those. We will meet again on Thursday."
"This semester, the student's class has begun studying integrals, and that's where he and I focused our first session of the new year. We went over the Average Value Theorem, the Fundamental Theorem of Calculus, and rectangular Riemann Sum approximations to help him prepare for an upcoming quiz."
"The student and I went over the fundamental theorem of calculus, what the general idea behind definite integrals are, why it is an important topic, and how to generally interpret what they mean given a real world scenario. We also went over the class notes as well as his homework until he felt more comfortable with the material."
"Today the student and I worked on integration by parts, exponential growth and the P test. She quickly picked up skills and understanding of integration by parts. The student showed some weakness in algebra, which I believe is due to being rusty. After a few problems she became more comfortable with her algebra. I plan to provide a few problems to work on over the weekend before our meeting on Monday. Although this was only our first meeting we will be able to work well together and advance her understanding of calculus."
