Tutoring review by Nick in Woodstock, GA
The student and I reviewed math problems from the semester's class. He needed a lot of review, but after awhile he caught on. He is still having problems in the usual areas and needed to be reminded of the rules. I will continue to review with him, so that he is prepared for the eighth grade.

Tutoring review by Layla in Woodstock, GA
During this session I worked with the student on adding and subtracting integers. We used the number line to help visualize some of the problems that she was having more difficulty with. Overall, she did very well when problems were straightforward math expressions (such as (-37)-(-29)).

The student and I went over several worksheets in his math book. We covered Roman numerals, multiples of six, borrowing, carrying, matching shapes, and counting coins. He did a good job today. After we were finished, we played his arithmetic game. I assigned him some homework to complete over the weekend.

Tutoring review by T'helah in Woodstock, GA
The student earned 100% on her last spelling test, and I'm really happy to see that our weekly sessions are making a difference in her grades. She only had math homework today, so she worked on the problems assigned for tonight and some assigned for Tuesday night as well. She continues to be open with me, even more than she was in the first couple of sessions, and does a great job of articulating if/ when/ why she's unclear. I give her lots of praise and encouragement, and use diagrams and visual aids when I can (i.e. today we used money to help her understand a word problem). I also gave her a pep talk today at the end of our session to try and boost her confidence even more. She has all the skills she needs to solve these problems (ability to add, subtract, divide, and multiply), and whether problem sets contain 2 digits, 5 digits, or 20 digits, the processes remain the same; it might take her longer to solve a problem, but that doesn't mean the problem is harder.

Tutoring review by June in Woodstock, GA
The student is very bright and tackled the problems with a very positive attitude. It seemed she only felt hesitant about the problems because she is new to the honors program and just may not be used to the pace of the new material being introduced. After doing some equations and graphing a few lines, she clearly gained a momentum and understanding in the concepts. By the end of the session, she understood what was expected of her in terms of the class material. We hope to continue to build up her confidence as we roll along.

Tutoring review by Charles in Woodstock, GA
We went over the last chapter's material in preparation for the student's upcoming test. He struggled with translating problems into graphing formats but is improving. I included some suggested practice by telling him to explain two problems to his parents that night. He is much better with the graphing formulas now. The wins were his clear progress in graphing (which was his hardest section before).
