Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We used today to review passages and question types from the ACT Science section. We worked with sample data representation, research summary, and conflicting viewpoint questions, none of which presented more difficulty than the others for the student. Sometimes the student gets ahead of himself by trying to answer too quickly, or settling for inadequate evidence. However, when he takes the time to check and confirm his answers, he continues to demonstrate high literacy and excellent analytic thinking. As with Reading, my best recommendation continues to be mindfulness and focus, best practiced with a methodical, one-question-at-a-time approach. The student should complete the independent practice for Reading for 2/24, at which time we will address remaining difficulties and practice as much as possible for 3/3."
"Today the student and I went through the first ACT Reading test, and started on the science test. He did excellently on the reading test, and shows promise in the Science portion. We will be spending our time in the coming weeks working on Writing skills. Next week we will finish Science and move on to Math. I asked him to look over the answer explanations for the questions he worked on today."
