Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We went over all of the concepts recently covered in geometry class. She has a test/ quiz in all of her classes on Friday. She understands how to relate angles and find complements, supplements and is very good at solving algebraic expressions. We practiced setting up a diagram based on a word problem, which she struggled with a bit. We also practiced using the distance and midpoint formula. I showed her the relationship it has to the Pythagorean theorem. We also went over how to calculate charge of an element and the relationships of atomic number/ mass and protons, neutrons, electrons. She seems to understand it but still struggles with the big concepts of atoms, ions, compounds, molecules and how to figure out what would be categorized as each of these."
"We covered using points to figure slopes of lines. The student is feeling comfortable with the material. We are working towards an excellent improvement over the previous test score."
"Today we reviewed the topics that the teacher introduced in class last week, including problems involving angles, complimentary and supplementary angles, and more."
"The student and I covered more area formulas in geometry while reinforcing basic math. We also covered Algebra 2, simplifying polynomials, and combining like terms. I instructed him to use familiar "setups" that he can visually understand."
"Today, we continued to go over proofs. The student is becoming more familiar with the terminology used when doing proofs; however, I think that as she becomes even more familiar with it, she will have even greater success. I think there is still struggle in the process of solving the proof. I am going to continue to focus next week on solidifying the actual process."
"We covered similar triangles. The student picked up the method very quickly. She felt this concept was easier to understand than past concepts. I encouraged her to develop her algebraic skills by recognizing simple division and multiplication when solving for an unknown variable."
