Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We started reviewing muscle cell physiology. We went over the sarcomere and the basics of muscle contraction. We also discussed what areas to focus on and will be covering metabolism later in the week. The student doesn't have much background in metabolism or respiration so I plan to break that down for him in a way that's not too complicated. He learns well with explanations and applying the topics to real world situations as opposed to just remembering facts."
"The student and I prepared for her midterm tomorrow. Specifically, we covered heredity since she told me that she feels less confident with the topic. We used the test prep book and I made some sample Punnett square questions to talk about dihybrid crosses. We also solved some questions on crossover and map units."
"Today we practiced translating word problems into chemical equations. This required us to go over the periodic table a bit and while reviewing chemical symbols we practiced general trends seen throughout the table and which help explain its organization. We also began reviewing the five main types of reactions: decomposition, combination, combustion, single substitution, and double substitution."
