Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Today the student worked on a ratio worksheet where he had to compare distances and times of 2 swimmers in one problem, and gravitational differences between planets in another. We also worked on his times tables today. He then worked on his English homework. He is reading a novel, and had to answer 20 questions about the section that was assigned for the weekend."
"During this session, I first tutored Student 1 in math. A homework packet was used to review multiplication of positive and negative fractions and variables, as well a few word problems. With Student 2, I went over a few geometry problems including factoring polynomials and similar triangles."
"We went over the student's homework and did some practice problems on finding mean, median, and mode, and worked on making histograms. We changed the example problem to "time it took for students to run laps" and the concept made much more sense to her."
"Today we review for the student's test that's scheduled for tomorrow. During our review we focused on finding the slope of a graph using point slope formula and discussed easy ways of finding mx + b form. We also looked at graphs and analyzed their meanings. He showed a positive attitude and was very attentive during our entire session. It was great getting to know him and I know that in the future we will many more successful sessions."
"The student worked to complete her math homework, and then we reviewed pre-algebra concepts that she is currently learning. She has made much improvement in her ability to manipulate negative numbers."
"The student took the test on inequalities this past Friday. We did some research about when the next test will be administered at his school and found out he will take it in March. Next week, he will take a timed version of the non-calculator test, so that he can get used to taking the test under pressure, and we can talk about time saving strategies. He will also take the calculator portion under the same time constriction. Next, he will use as a last minute review of topical areas that we saw some difficulty in during the timed tests. This week he completed the 7th grade calculator test, and also reviewed the formulas for finding area, circumference, radius, and perimeter."
