Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"In this session the student and I went through his review packets for his final in pre-calculus on Monday. The topics included writing equations of functions based off of parent function knowledge and also finding the difference quotient for a specific function. I saw him improve in his understanding of functions."
"This was a special tutoring session to prepare the student for his midterm exam on Tuesday. We reviewed exponential functions, exercises, and old exams. We did some word problems. He plans to attend a review session with his teacher on Sunday. Then we will meet once more on Monday."
"We covered probability and combinations and the difference between dependent and independent events. We covered rectangular to polar coordinate conversion. Additionally, I showed that subtraction of vectors is the same as negative addition. She has gotten much better with sequences and series and determining convergence."
"Today the student and I covered domains of functions, kinematic equations, graphing polynomials, partial function decomposition, and synthetic division. The student reviewed her quiz and identified the errors in her solution method."
"We covered trigonometry identities, that is, proving trig identities and solving trig equations. The student struggled with proving trig identities because he didn't have a strong grip of the fundamental identities. The mother had told me that he had F in that class before I started tutoring him. His current grade is now C. I am gradually raising his confidence level in math. Our target is to get at least a B in the upcoming test."
"The student worked on test review. Topics included long division with polynomials, end behavior of polynomials, and finding rational roots of an answer. He had some trouble with the more difficult long division problems. We will look more closely at those in the next session."
